how sad!

How sad is it when you log on to blog and you can't remember your password and you have to reset it. That means that I haven't been doing my job and keeping this up to date.

There isn't a whole lot going on in Sweet Tater land.

I am wanting to expand into more items though. I am finding that handmade children's items aren't big sellers. I am kinda bummed about that. I thought that it was something cool and fun. I am still making things though, mostly custom orders, and of course, my gifts to friends are handmade.

I am now making luggage tags. They are pretty cute and have been a huge success so far. I am still trying to catch up on the orders that I have gotten so far. I am also wanting to get into making kitchen items, maybe some matching towels and pot holders. My potholders are a big success too, but I have yet to sell them publicly. Pictures will be posted soon.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I am always open to suggestions or constructive criticisms.

Peace out!
Carolyn

beforethebabywakes.blogspot.com

Good morning everyone!

I wanted to let you know about this blog. She is having a giveaway everyday up to the 1 year anniversary of her blog. She has asked various etsy sellers and others to participate and I hopped on the wagon. Today is my giveaway day, so go check it out.

Her blog is a sundry of information. It is a great mommy blog. I recommend becoming a follower. I have.

There are some great etsy sellers on her site, you can still register for the previous 7 days of giveaways and they don't draw until February 1, so you have plenty of time to get over there and see whats going on. I hope you like what she has on there.

Again, her blog is beforethebabywakes.blogspot.com.

Later, peeps!

my button

Hey! Check out my button ---------------------> I added an etsy button to the blog. When you click on it, it will take you directly to my etsy store. I have added a few things in the past couple of weeks, check them out. .

Things have been kinda slow. I have gotten 2 orders from my etsy store though, I am super stoked about that. But, when it rains, it pours........babies, that is. I have 3 babies that I am sewing for right now. Since they usually come in threes, maybe this will be it for a little while. Congrats to all my friends!

I have decided to take on a couple of other projects. I have decided to try to make a shirt for myself.....scary, I know. I don't know how I feel about sewing clothes, but it's a really cute shirt...and I am going to attempt luggage tags....Vera Bradley style. Not that I am trying to become the next Vera Bradley, I just like the stuff.........without the pricetag. We'll see!

Peace out!

Sweet Tater now on Etsy!

Hello everyone!

I have been away for a little while, but I have been hard at work. amongst everything that has been going on, I have been trying to get ready for my big craft show, here in Gainesville.

I wanted to let everyone know that I have now opened an etsy store. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of pictures on there, but I do have some burp cloths for you to look at.

I have a new product that I am going to start working on....ruffled socks! I am going to try to do the ruffled socks and hairbow combo. I will let you guys know when that comes to fruition. I am trying to keep things kind of simple these days since my little one has been keeping me super busy!

I just wanted to let you guys know that we are still here and trying to do new, fun things for you!

Take care and I hope to see all of you soon.

Sweet Tater is back!

Well guys, the sewing machine is back up. I turned it on and it still works...ha,ha! Now I just have to get it in gear.

I have been lucky enough to work with a wonderful company, Miracles Adoption Agency, Inc., and her business is booming so she has me working, pretty much for the rest of the month, on some wonderful adoption packages for her new parents. Being adopted myself, this is something that really tugs at my heartstrings and to have her think highly enough of my products that she would like to give them to her adopting parents, just makes me smile ear to ear. And to know that these kids are going to loving homes where they will be loved is just such a great feeling.

Having said that, if there are any custom orders that you would like to place, I will be able to fill those come July1. I will also have some new products coming soon. I will no longer be making bibs, individually, I will only be making those as custom sets in the future. I am eager to get some products finished and posted for you guys to see.

I hope that you guys have a great rest of the week and look forward to working with you in the future.

Sweet Tater is on hiatus

Hey guys! Sorry that I haven't been up to date again....there have been so many things going on...

I did want to post that I will not be working/ making any custom orders from April 20 - June. I am happy to announce that we have bought a house and I will not have time to accommodate any orders. I will be back up and running as soon as we can get in and get everything settled. I am hoping that will be before the end of June, but who knows, really, when you are moving with a toddler...you tend to get sidetracked by babies, bubbles and "kickies" (stickers). I can't wait to get set up in a room where I will have more space....how exciting. I will let you know as soon as I am back up and running.

xoxo

Hello everyone! I just wanted to show you guys a new option that I have with burp cloths. These are the new burp sets that I have come up with. Well, the only new thing is the colored burp cloth with initial, but the concept is new. I have had so many people comment on how lovely these are, but just can't afford it right now....well, I have put these together for a bit of variety and a touch of personalization for $20. Any color combination can be done. The colored cloths come in navy blue, light blue (as shown), lime green, dark pink, light pink and lavender.

Good news!

I had my big craft show this weekend and let me just say....IT WAS A SUCCESS! I was so excited, it exceeded my expectations. It looks like Sweet Tater and Co. will be around for a little bit longer. Now I just have to get all my ducks in a row for this to be a legitimate business because I see success in my future. That means that I have to start charging tax. I told myself that I was going to take the rest of the year off, but I am so excited about some ideas that I have, that I am getting back to the sewing machine tonight. I have some some really amazing material that I can't wait to work with. It is more expensive, but hopefully I will be able to get it at a decent price and be able to keep my prices low. My goal is to provide quality, handmade, baby items for an affordable price. There are still a few of us moms out there that really like the handmade items and would like to able to afford them. I also am going to try my hand at making pillowcase dresses. I love them and want to see my daughter in them ALL summer. I am going to try one tonight and let you know how it goes. If all goes well, I will be offering those in '09, if not, then I won't. Wish me luck.

Also, I would like to send a plug out for Tickled Pink Monogramming. You can visit her site at tickledpinkmonogramming.com. She has some super cute items on her site. I am just trying to spread the word for moms who love personalized items.

vintage material

Finally! After talking about them FOREVER, I get them made and posted. This is some GREAT vintage material that I found a while back in MS, but didn't buy...luckily, I found it online and snatched it real quick! I have made blankets out of these materials....obviously by the picture of the crib. I posted that picture so you can see just how big the blankets are. They are not quite a full yard. Each blanket is a cotton front with a flannel back. The Santa material has a red back, the children playing (on blue) has a buttercream flannel back, and the ballerinas have an oatmeal colored back. They are so cute, if I do say so myself. Each blanket is $20 and I have two of each.

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's off to work I go

Wow! I am so busy these days...I almost couldn't tell you what day it is. I am sure that I would have to stop and think about it. Sheesh!

Well, I had my small "in office" craft show for all our State Attorney staff. I am thinking this is not the year for buying crafts. I made one sale and one semi sale...meaning I was told to put it aside and she would catch me later. This could be good and bad. On one hand, I am disappointed that I didn't really sell much, but on the other hand, I have a good inventory for my BIG, BIG, BIG show next weekend. Oh well...we live and we learn. My dear husband keeps telling me, "it's not the product, it's the limited market for the product." God love him...he's trying. I guess he is right though...not that many people like handmade stuff anymore. I did have a couple tell me that my burp cloths would be GREAT kitchen towels. Ha,ha!

Anyway, I said I would give it a year. That won't be until February, so we shall see. I still have the O'Connell Center after Thanksgiving, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

just for fun....

I started out doing these just for myself...because since having a girl, I am getting into girly stuff...I wanted to spruce up my cheapo picture frames. I have a couple of these at work and people seem to love them, so.....I am now offering them to the public. If you would like a cheapo, spruced up acrylic picture frame, they are $2.

Collegiate inspired bows

I have had requests for Orange and Blue bows, so that inspired me to expand on that concept. I have ribbon for the following teams, but can accomodate most requests: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Ohio State.

Christmas Bows

Christmas Bows have arrived! I am pleased to introduce my Christmas Tree bows. The bow on top can be made with red, silver or gold ribbon. If you want something totally non traditional, I can probably do whatever you want....pink, purple, yellow....you name it. They are made with alligator clips so they will stay in that fine hair. They are fun, stylish and perfect for babies or toddlers.

Back in action

Lord! How long has it been since I have been on here! Well, I have been busy, busy, busy getting ready for all kinds of stuff. I have added a few new items to the list...blankets, bibs, and a different type of hairbow....for toddlers. I am getting ready for the big craft festival at the O'Connell Center. I will be sure to get some pictures up here as soon as I can. Business is fair, orders here and there.....enough to keep me busy between those and 2 craft shows coming up. Anyway, I am back up and running online. I promise to keep this up to snuff, as they say, posting new items and events. Hope to see you guys soon.

My second Sweet Tater event...

....sucked as well! My goal was to double my sales from my first evet....mission accomplished! I did sell 7 things, but that still wasn't enough to cover the total of the space rental. Luckily my dad and I split it, eventhough I told him not to pay me. Oh well, I guess you have to test the waters. I know that I have a good product, my "word of mouth" sales are pretty good, but I can't get going at festivals and stuff like that. Ugh! My next show that I hope to do is the Craft Show at the O'Connell Center. I think that is going to be more my speed....or at least I hope.

I have given some people really great idea's though. They took pictures and everything.
